I am a poet, author, educator, and creative strategist working across literature, performance, exhibition, community engagement, and public thought.
My work lives at the intersection of art and structure where imagination meets execution, and where vision becomes something real enough to hold.
I am the author of multiple poetry collections, including I Hope This Helps, and Field Theories. I’ve been awarded numerous honors, including the Rome Prize in Literature.
I have taught, lectured, and built programs across institutions, including Columbia University, the University of Michigan, Reed College, Vermont College of Fine Arts, the Fine Arts Work Center, Tin House, VONA, Lambda Literary, Cave Canem, Fire & Ink, and so many more.
However, Fieldlight Studio does not come from institutions, but from years of working with artists, leaders, and thinkers who were already powerful but needed language and structure that could match that power.

I came to this work through language.
Language for me is far more than ornament.
Language is survival.
Language is construction.
Everything I do grows from that understanding.
